A prominent Nigerian singer, songwriter and ex-Mr Universe, Mr Slami Ifeanyi, is dead.
He was gunned down by assailants in Anambra State on Sunday.
The news of the singer’s death was revealed in a video released on social media on Tuesday.
In the video, the lifeless body of the singer is seen hanging from the car in a pool of blood.
Mr Ifeanyi was said to be driving alone in his Lexus car when he was attacked and killed at Umubere in Akwa, the state capital.
There are torrents of condolences by his fans on Tuesday.
Mr Nwanya Bernard, in a Facebook page, said, “This again tore me apart! Dude was my man from way back, hardworking, focused, talented and handsome dude. And today I hear he is gone, all because Nigeria failed you.
“The monster instituted by a failed system is eating up the future ambassadors. Slami Ifeanyi of St Rita’s Hostel! RIP buddy. Soon! We will take back our country.”
Chijioke Okanmelu also wrote, “I was speechless when I got the news of your death Ifeanyi, but I’m still not believing yet because this is not what we discussed last week on the phone. What do you want your dad and your mum to do?… Rest in peace Slami Ifeanyi.”
Another facebooker, Blessing Okonofua, said, “RIP to you dear Facebook friend, one of the cutest of them all. Rest in peace Slami Ifeanyi, so we’ll never talk again? ‘Obi agbawalam.”
