A former minister of Mines, Power and Steel Development, Engr Bunu Sheriff Musa, is dead
The Secretary of the Borno Elders’ Forum, Dr Bulama Mali Gubio, who confirmed the development said Bunu Sheriff Musa died on Sunday.
Musa served as Minister of Power and Steel Development under General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s military regime.
He was also Nigeria’s ambassador to France in 1998.
He was Chairman Governing Council of the Ahmadu Bello University from 2009 to 2012.
Late Sheriff Musa was born in January 1947 in Maiduguri, Borno State, and he had his primary education at a local school in the city.
He attended Government College, Maiduguri for his secondary school, and graduated in 1967. Thereafter, he went to the Federal School of Science where he obtained a higher school certificate. Musa earned a degree in engineering from Ahmadu Bello University and a master’s degree from Southampton University.
Between 1970 and 1980, he worked as an engineer for the Inland Waterways division of the Federal Ministry of Transportation. He later transferred services to Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA). In 1981, where he rose to become the general manager.
Musa was appointed minister after the military coup of 1983.
