Former Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris has declared his intention to run for the national chairmanship seat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party has slated its national convention for October 30th and 31st.
It has also zoned the national chairmanship position to the North.
Stakeholders within the North Central are due to meet on Tuesday ahead of the Northern caucus interface slated for Wednesday.
The former governor said the desire to reposition the main opposition party to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government in 2023, informed his decision to join the race.
He blamed the exodus of some stakeholders from the party in recent time leadership gap, while promising to reverse the trend.
It was learnt that Professor Jerry Gana, David Mark and Iyorchia Ayu are also rooting for the position from the North Central, while former Katsin State Governor, Ibrahim Shema and his Gombe State counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo are the choice of North West and North East respectively.
