I would like to make an observation on the ongoing crises that prevails in the South East as well as the South Western regions of this country, Nigeria. The worst happening specifically in Oyo State where property and lives of the Hausas are being unnecessarily destroyed.
We ought to know that no country would prosper in the midst of crises supported by some unpatriotic citizens who do not have the zeal to see this country move forward. If these crises are not timely controlled or tackled in the affected regions, there is a prospect that it may spread to other peaceful regions leading to the massive loss of lives of innocent citizens.
Although, it has been confirmed already, that there are some bad elements claiming to be typically Nigerians, who have tried to see this country in total disintegration and disunity in the past, but their plans failed. With the current somersaulting political and economic condition, they decided to seize this opportunity presented by the political and economic instability, to incite our youths to be involved in all sorts of criminal activities that will jeopardize the peaceful condition of Nigeria.
It is high time our youths shunned the existing tribal and religious differences by uniting themselves as one single entity. Although Nigeria is a country of different tribes with different religious and cultural backgrounds, this does not warrant any kind of tribal crises to emerge. We need to take a look at other developed and heterogeneous countries of the world which have a larger number of tribes than Nigeria. So, why can’t we emulate such countries that live in harmony in spite of their differences?
In a nutshell, I would like to call on the federal government to seriously take strong and decisive measures to avoid further occurrences and escalation of such crises, especially in the peaceful regions and at the same time, tackle the existing tribal misunderstanding in the affected regions.
