Underdeveloped African nations will be given preference when receiving additional grain imports from Ukraine says Turkish president Erdogan.
In the parliament, Erdogan informed the members of his party that Russian President Vladimir Putin had advised giving priority to nations like Somalia, Djibouti, and Sudan, adding that he agreed with the suggestion.
The Turkish leader said that Moscow was persuaded to resume the grain transaction as a result of Ankara’s diplomatic efforts
“Following our call with Mr. Putin yesterday, Russian Defense Minister Shoigu called our Defense Minister Hulusi Akar to announce that grain shipments will resume as planned on Wednesday at 12 p.m.,” he stated.
The Turkish Defense Ministry later reported that shipments had begun on time at noon (0900 GMT). (dpa/NAN).
