Elon Musk-owned internet service company, Starlink, has increased the price of its hardware by 112% in Nigeria.
The company increased the price of its internet router from N378,000 to N800,000 but retained the monthly subscription for the internet service at N38,000 per month.
The increment may not be unconnected with the devaluation of the Naira against the dollar to about N1,602/dollar at the official market.
Starlink has continued to enjoy patronage from Nigerians since its launch in the country in January 2023.
The ubiquitous status of its satellite 7ujkukservice also encourages people in areas with poor internet networks to go for Starlink.
Starlink, according to the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), is one of the leading ISPs in Nigeria in terms of customer numbers, with a customer base of 11,207 as of Q3 2023.
