The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye, is dead.
He died on Wednesday night, according to family sources.
Afuye died after a brief illness.
He was aged 66.
He represented Ikere constituency 1 in the state assembly.
A lawmaker in the house revealed that when the speaker developed some unknown complication, he was taken to the hospital.
The speaker was together with the new governor Biodun Oyebanji in office the previousday.
He reportedly came with the principal officers of the assembly to meet with His Excellency.
Afuye attended the inauguration of Oyebanji, on Sunday, and was said to have also attended plenary on Tuesday before the sudden turn of event.
