The police on Tuesday arraigned a 56-year-old man, Oladimeji David, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two he-goats.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 13 at about 4p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Okunade also alleged that the defendant stole the two He-goats worth N80,000 belonging to Alhaji Nurudeen Ambali and Olubodun Iyabo.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 320(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Defence Counsel, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant her client bail.
She assured the court that her client would not jump bail
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A.O Adeosun, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until April 6 for hearing.
