The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has charged Commissioners of Police (CPs) in all the States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Assistant Inspector-Generals of Police (AIGs) to beef up security and ensure crime-free Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in their areas of responsibility.
Baba gave the charge on Sunday in a statement by the Force spokesperson, Frank Mba.
He asked the senior officers to deploy both human and other operational assets to carry out confidence-building and crime prevention patrols on major highways.
The IGP also ordered the senior officers to secure residential and industrial areas, vulnerable points, places of worship, other places of public resort and around all critical national infrastructure.
The police chief charged all personnel deployed to be professional and mindful of the fundamental rights of the citizens, while discharging their responsibilities with all sense of decorum and alertness.
He enjoined citizens to celebrate and enjoy the beauty of the Sallah, while remaining security conscious and compliant with the COVID-19 prevention protocols.
