Former Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over corruption allegations.
Senator Al-Makura (APC, Nasarawa South), was arrested alongside his wife on Wednesday.
The former governor is being grilled at the head office of the anti-graft agency in Abuja, according to Premium Times.
The senator served as Nasarawa state governor from 2011 to 2015.
He was the only governor to be elected under the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) in 2011.
He is one of the frontline contestants vying for the position of national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in its forthcoming convention.
There is no official statement from the EFCC.
