Lawmakers in the Edo State house of Assembly have served the state Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, an impeachment notice.
Shaibu was given seven days to respond to allegations levelled against him.
Governor Godwin Obaseki and Shaibu, have locked horns over the authentic governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the state.
Obaseki is supporting a Lagos-based lawyer, Asue Ighodalo, who won the party’s indirect primary election held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
Shaibu won as a factional candidate at a parallel primary at his official residence on Commercial Avenue in Benin.
Shaibu was a former member of the House of Representatives, ex-Majority Leader of Edo Assembly and former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
