The Super Eagles on Wednesday left Lagos for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cote D’ivoire which begins on Thursday.
Dressed in a white kaftan with green caps, showcasing Nigeria’s national colours, they were hosted on Tuesday, by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He urged them to win the AFCON, stating that the triumph of the Eagles would bring succour to the citizens.
The governor gave the charge when he hosted the team to a special dinner at the Lagos House, Marina, before the team’s departure to Cote d’Ivoire for the AFCON tournament, which is slated to commence on Saturday, January 13.
Eagles would be gunning for a fourth title in this tournament. They had won in 1980, 1994, and 2013.
The three-time African champions will be based at the Pullman Hotel in Abidjan.

Both captain Ahmed Musa and reigning African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen have expressed confidence, all declaring that they will win this particular championship.
