Striker Edin Dzeko led Inter Milan to a 2-0 UEFA Champions League win at Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday with a goal and an assist.
Group D leaders Sporting Lisbon, meanwhile, made it two wins out of two games with a late 2-0 triumph over Tottenham.
This was Inter Milan’s first victory in the competition’s Group C, after a 2-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich last week.
Dzeko broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with a lovely finish into the far corner.
But in spite of controlling the ball during the first half, the Italian side headed to the break with only a narrow lead.
Viktoria Plzen lost Pavel Bucha at the hour mark due to a red card, making it even more difficult for the home side to gain possession.
It did not take long for Inter Milan to hit the net a second time.
Following an assist from Dzeko, Denzel Dumfries was clinical to secure the Italians the three points.
In the clash between Sporting Lisbon and Tottenham, both goalkeepers had a bright evening and the game was set to end in a goalless draw.
But Paulinho broke the deadlock in the 90th minute and Arthur Gomes netted a stunner just two minutes later.
Later on Wednesday, Bayern Munich host FC Barcelona and former striker Robert Lewandowski, while Liverpool seek their first win against Ajax Amsterdam.
