The hosting of the Muslim Umma to a breaking fast (iftar) by the Director-General of State Services (DGSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, would go a long way in promoting religious harmony.
The Secretary-General, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Prof. Khalid Abubakar, stated this on Wednesday in Kaduna.
The JNI scribe who praised Ajayi for deeming it worthy to host the Muslim Ummah to a befitting breaking of fast (Iftar), described Ajayi’s initiative to unite the Muslims and Christians as historic.
He said in spite of being the son of a clergyman, Ajayi had demonstrated an exceptional commitment to religious tolerance.
Abubakar who underscored the significance of the secret police boss’s action, extolled the invitation extended to the less-privileged to the feast, saying,” I understand that Ajayi traditionally does this and empowers them, this is commendable and should be emulated.”
He prayed for Allah’s wisdom to guide him in addressing the myriad of Nigeria’s security challenges.
Abubakar said the breaking of the fasting, held on Saturday, brought together both Muslim and Christian leaders, alongside other indigents including those with special needs from across the Federal Capital Territory. (FCT).
