Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, will on February 25 be arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja to defend himself against allegations of cybercrime and breach of national security.
The Department of State Services (DSS) iwill be arraigning el-Rufai filing of a three-count charge on Monday against him.
Court documents has it that the charges were based on allegations that el-Rufai illegally tapped a telephone conversation involving the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.
The DSS said the act breached the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024, and the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.
The secret service said the charges were raised after el-Rufai last Saturday told Prime Time, an Arise Television programme, that “someone wiretapped” the phone of the National Security Adviser, enabling him to hear Ribadu allegedly directing security operatives to arrest him.
The DSS was yet to make public full details of the alleged interception.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai was still in ICPC custody that was investigi corruption allegations during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State
