A Nigerian Navy detachment has blocked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Nyesom Wike, from accessing a plot of land in a location in Abuja.
Wike, leading officials and a team of security operatives from the police and the DSS had arrived at the land with the intent of accessing it, but was prevented from gaining access.
This led to exchange of hot words between the minister and the officer commanding the team. Members of Wike’s entourage joined in the shouting and shoving match.
A viral video posted by Sahara Reporters on its Facebook page showed the enraged minister shouting at the officer, who stood his ground even as Wike rained verbal abuses at him.
Part of the hot verbal exchanges between Wike and the Naval Officer went thus:
Wike: “ … Nobody does that. You will not allow anybody because he is the Chief of Naval Staff.”’
Naval Officer: “We did not ..”
Wike; “And then you begin to carry land?”
Naval Officer: “Sir, everything was acquired legally.”
Wike: “Stop that!”
Naval Officer: “Am an officer, I have integrity …”
Wike: “Shut up! Will you get out?”
Naval Officer: “I will not shut up.”
Wike: “… I was in school; you were not in the same school.”
Naval Officer: “You can’t shut me up!”
Wike: “Will you keep quiet, are you not a big fool? You are a fool.”
Naval Officer: “Am not a fool Sir.”
Wike: “You think you can treat anybody like that? As at the time I graduated, you were in primary school.”
Naval Officer: “I am acting on an order from above.”
Wike: “Which order? I will see whether you will not leave here. Go and develop it … you would have killed everybody here.”
Naval Officer: “We won’t kill anybody here. I am acting on an order from above.”
At this juncture Wike and his team turned back to go without gaining access into the plot of land that is under development.
