There was a mild drama at PU-015 Anglican Secondary School, Makurdi on Saturday as voting was delayed over a dry ink pad brought by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A voter who witnessed the scene said voters were unable to vote immediately after accreditation for a while, as it was discovered that the ink pad was dry.
He said one of the voters on the line had to go back home and bring his personal ink pad before voting commenced at the polling unit.
About four prospective voters were also rejected by the BVAS at the polling unit as their biometrics and facial identity could not be verified.
Meanwhile, after arriving late (9:45am) at LEA polling unit Ianna, Mbaapen, Buruku local government, Benue State, voting was yet to coomence as at 11:15am as INEC officials deployed to the polling unit were unable to operate the BVAS machine.
A voter on ground at the polling unit said the INEC adhoc staff did not have the username with which to unlock the machine.
He further stated that calls made to the hotlines provided by INEC were neither answered not returned.
At the time of the report, some of the adhoc staff had gone back to the local government headquarters to resolve the issue with their superiors.
