At least 13 people have been confirmed dead in fresh attacks by bandits across three communities in Kachia local government of Kaduna State.
These attacks are coming two days after another lethal attack on Abuja- Kaduna passenger train that left at least nine persons dead, nearly 30 wounded and dozens others abducted.
The new attack was launched by rampaging bandits in the wee hours of Thursday in Ankwa, Aboron and Kabode communities all in Kachia local government of the state.
A resident of the area told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the bandits riding motorcycles attacked the communities by shooting anyone on sight and also looting provision stores.
He said the assailants stormed Ankwa around 6:30am, killing at least five villagers. They also attacked Kabode around 8:30am where they killed one person and the Aboron ommunity where the assailants killed five people.
The source, however, said two of the bandits were killed in Ankwa during the attack.
The source said, “the communities were deserted. People including women and children have fled to Kachia, the local government headquarters.”
In May last year, bandits had abducted 42 people, mostly pregnant women, nursing mothers and children during a midnight raid at Kabode community in Kachia local government.
Among those abducted were 18 women, who were mostly nursing mothers and pregnant, six infants and eight children.
The attackers demanded N200 million ransom to release the villagers.
The raid happened when the community were preparing for Sallah after completing the annual Ramadan fast.
This newspaper learned that the village is a ginger farming community, bordering the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Kachia.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) jets have killed 34 bandits in Kaduna, according to BBC Hausa Service.
According to the BBC report, the Nigeria Air Force got intelligence information that about 40 people riding on motorcycles were seen moving between Akilibu in Kaduna State and Sarkin Pawa in Niger State.
Immediately the NAF deployed fighter jets to the location and the bandits were neutralized.
Residents of Mangoro who volunteered information to the military said they sighted 17 destroyed motorcycles, 34 corpses and 14 locally made guns.
