The Central Coordination Commission of Pottal Fii Bhantal Fouta Djallo has urged political parties and civil society organizations to ask the United Nations to intervene in Guinea and organize credible and free elections.
In a statement on Thursday, the organisation accused the military junta of Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya of taken measures that would destablise the country.
The statement said, “For some time, the military junta that seized power on September 5, 2021, overthrowing the despotic regime of Alpha Condé and promising that justice will be its compass, has been making decisions that risk plunging Guinea into total chaos. Indeed, the junta’s decisions seem to be rather in favor of the executioners and to the detriment of the victims.”
It cited the “the renaming of Conakry airport after the dictator Sékou Touré who is responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of Guineans including most of the country’s intellectuals and entrepreneurs is an example.”
The organisation said, in recent times, “under the pretext of recovering illegally occupied state estates and without any legal proceedings, the leaders of the country’s two largest political parties have been ordered to vacate their homes within ten days. The intention here is to humiliate them and destabilize their political formations. The families of Diallo Telli, first secretary general of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) assassinated by the dictatorial regime of Sékou Touré and those of the wife of President Lansana Conte are also ordered to free their homes within the same ten-day period.
“Paradoxically, the Bellevue estates, which were withdrawn from the Catholic Church in 1961 and where the Sylis villas were built at the expense of the State, were granted to the widow of Sékou Touré.”
“An opaquely managed organization called CRIEF is created to suppress economic crimes. But it quickly turns into an organization of persecution and intimidation of people whom the junta seems to want to eliminate from the political game. To achieve this objective, it opens an investigation into the liquidation by the Guinean State of the bankrupt airline Air Guinée. A company that had only one aircraft on its fleet. It should be noted in passing that this liquidation of bankrupt state-owned enterprises was requested by the Bretton Woods institutions as a condition for obtaining loans. Crief took the opportunity to publicly declare that the leader of the UFDG political party, who was Minister of Transport at the time of the execution of this liquidation, is concerned by this file.
“Another controversial junta decision is the publication of the list of members of the National Transitional Council (NTC).
“The selection of members was made unilaterally without taking into account the recommendations of civil society. The junta also appointed the president of this institution without prior consultation. The president of this NTC is a gentleman named Dansa Kourouma who was in favor of the change of constitution that allowed the former Guinean despot, Mr. Alpha Condé, to run for a third presidential term.”
he Central Coordination Commission of Pottal Fii Bhantal Fouta Djallo said the junta ignores the blood crimes and destruction of private property and businesses recently committed by the alpha Condé regimes and the junta led by the Dadis/Konaté tandem. Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya’s junta should make it a priority to open investigations into the following facts:
– The delay in the trial of those indicted for crimes against humanity of 28 September 2009
– The kidnapping, and the sequestration in Soronkoni of about thirty young people from neighborhoods favorable to the opposition and the torture suffered by the latter which caused the death of two these young people
– The murder of several hundred young people during demonstrations linked to the refusal of alpha Condé’s regime to respect the electoral deadlines
– The Zoghota massacres in the Nzérékoré region.
– The demolition of the properties of the inhabitants of Kaporo Rails, Kipe2 and Dimesse.
– The destruction of the shopping centers of the economic operator El Hadj Ousmane Balde president of the Coordination des Fulbés and Halpular
