Husband to a former minister of Information and Communication, late Dora Akunyili, Chike Akunyili, has been reportedly killed by gunmen.
Akunyili, a medical doctor, was killed alongside his police escort and his personal assistant on Tuesday night at Umuoji, Idemili North local government area of Anambra state, according to a family source.
The spokesperson of Anambra Police Command,Tochukwu Ikenga, is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The deceased’s wife, a former director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), died of uterine cancer on June 7, 2014.
