The Kano state leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the rumour going round that special treatment awits any prospective defector that wishes to join APC.
The APC State Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, revealed that a press briefing held in Kano that no special treatment for any decamped including Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and others
Abbas made it clear that while it is open to new entrants as part of its broader Renewed Hope Agenda is, the party will not compromise its internal democracy, structure, or values for any individual regardless of their political stature.
“This is a welcome development, especially given the fact that the APC remains the last political refuge for Kwankwaso, as he has successfully destroyed his relationships with all other political groupings in the country,” he said.
The Kano APC emphasized that all intending members must follow due process by registering at their respective ward chapters. The directive has already been issued to local branches across the state to prepare registers for new members, irrespective of social or political standing.
The leadership of APC accused certain political figures of seeking refuge in the party as a last resort after losing public trust or to evade accountability.
“We are fully aware that some people are desperate to join the APC because they have scuttled their political goodwill and have become political lepers in the national scheme of things. Others are attempting to escape accountability for corrupt acts in both government and party affairs. Let it be clear that joining the APC is not a panacea for escaping from their past misdeeds,” he added.
