‘’Any Power Unused is Useless’’.

— A revolutionary line often used by radical Nigerians students of the 1980s during their protests

Since most countries of the world are now contending with incompetent, unconscious, uncaring, unconcerned, unaccountable, unengaged and thus, effete leadership, leaving many followers all over the world yearning for progressive or positive actions, a vacuum has, naturally, been created in most parts of the world for a powerful, unique. self-willed, seemingly demonic leader like USA President Donald Trump to step in whether he is welcomed or not.

Some months ago, the world watched with some faint amusement, if not genuine pity, how in The White House, Trump treated visiting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky like his proper houseboy. We may be compelled against our better judgment to begin to see as a genuine hero hyper active, intrusive and iconoclastic persons like Trump whose clear meddlesomeness do actually wake up leaders and the led all over the world to arise and face their leadership and followership responsibilities or else somebody somewhere will be bound to instinctively act and worry about the propriety or no of his actions later.

There is no doubt about it that super patriots of many nations of the world today will definitely feel rankled by the recent threat issued by President Trump to Nigerian leaders to rein in the jihadists terrorists which he said are tormenting the lives of Nigerian Christians or else Nigeria risks invasion. Nigeria is not the only victim of Trump’s hectoring and lecturing. The fear of Donald Trump today is the beginning of earthly wisdom all over the world for many leaders and other outlaws .

For some of us impotent folks who feel ignored and uncared for by our leaders, Trump’s declaration of himself as the new president of the world, whether certain persons like it or not, excites us immensely. It reminds us of the germ of truth contained in that revolutionary line quoted at the beginning of this piece whereby Nigerians students of the 80s used to say that any power unused is useless. What is the use of being invested with much power but you acting as if that power is not important. Trump has declared himself as the new Sherriff in town. Who can challenge him? Criminals and rogue elements of all hues in all countries of the world must repent or go find another place of habitation where he cannot reach or else, go into hiding or keep absolute silence.

Th likes of Trump used to talk modestly before about the international community. But the man has realized himself and has now announced triumphantly to the world that he is indeed that international community. Is there another one? Let that one tell us, please.

I am filled with great joy at the news that on account of Trump and his threat against Nigeria, Chad, our north eastly neighbour, is thinking of closing her border with Nigeria because they have gathered from intelligence that jihadists terrorists in the north of our country are eager to flee from Nigeria to their country. This confirms one of the sayings about Trump that when he shows his determined face somewhere, criminals and rogue elements flee even when no one is in actual pursuit of them. The intention of Nigerian terrorists to flee elsewhere also shows that some ideologically convinced individuals do know that some of their ‘ideologically convinced ‘social actions are wrong which is why when there is a serious ‘convinced’ threat of revenge instead of staying put to die in their conviction, they elect to vote with their legs rather than perishing in a wrong revolutionary death!

Whatever any one may say about Trump’s style, he has emerged as some kind of catalyst which we students of chemistry were taught years ago that it quickens and speeds up a chemical reaction. His abrasive style strikes a wake -up call on all leaders of the world and their followers not to do what sport journalists call ‘’ball watching’’. If you are a member of a team of the first eleven facing another team, do not stand there tame and inactive and allow your opponents to walk pass you and score against your team.

No, that is unacceptable. The stakes are simply too high for anyone to be permitted the luxury of improper, inappropriate or worse still, deliberate non-action, for, as one USA President once said, ‘’in the long rung, all of us will be dead’’. Definitely, somethings need to be done now or like yesterday to get certain things straightened out.

Trump’s current actions is a welcome reminder or a hard nudge to diverse persons all over the world that If you know you have power and other people know and fear that you have that power, do not be hesitant or, worse, stay silent. Step out there and boldly use it to solve some of the problems of the world. Power is not to be preserved in some monument somewhere to be referenced to one day that it was the asset of someone who failed to use it. If you have it, use it and worry about its consequences later if it was wrongly used.

I personally think that Trump is the most powerful and unique personality on the surface of planet earth today. He is not only powerful, he is also very impactful. Some say he is an autocrat. Others say he is a democrat. Some say he is the defender of the oppressed. Others say he is an aggressive interloper. Some say he is the Sherriff of the world. Others contend he is a sham saint and a volitional sinner like most persons of his kind. Some say further that he is good. Millions of others disagree. They say he is bad. Some say he is a benevolent intervener in the affairs of other countries while others swear that he is no more than an international adventurer perpetually on the lookout for rare earth minerals or other minerals rare or common. All of these and more show that whatever you have against him or in favour of him, you cannot be indifferent to him. Whatever you say of him he remains Donald Trump, the only son of his parents, He is, in summary, a person of fascinating interes
t to the likes of me. I think his best designation is A Person of Profound Concern to the World (APPC).

One aspect of Trump’s life that fascinates and intrigues me the most is his self-assured domineering personality which few or no one dares to question. Trump came to a conclusion in a meeting with himself that some countries and the criminal elements within them are out on a war against the United States using the deadly instruments of addictive drugs. He promptly became the chief accuser, prosecutor, judge and executioner of his judgments. He said the other day that some vessels sailing in international waters carry drugs destined for the USA. And as such, he is perfectly in order to amass war machines and ammunitions around the Pacific Ocean to execute judgment against them in the court of international waters. And pronto, over 14 persons are so far reported to have perished in attacks by the war machines of the USA. Some say he is merely providing a convenient excuse in his agenda of regime change against some of his neighbours in the Caribbeans. Nobody has contradicted him which me
ans his accusations are right.

Note that it is only Trump who has the power and gumption to describe another country as a country of particular Concern to him or his international community of America. What powers do I have to describe another man a person of particular concern to me or my household other than to give names that talk of my immense curiosity about such a man? Therefore, here are some of my various designations for Trump:

He is A Person of Particular Interest(APPI) to Idang Alibi. This kind of man, the havoc he can cause, who can contain him? Trump is also A Person of Profound Power of concern to the world. The powers he has amassed for himself who can divest him of some of them for the peace and tranquility of the world?

My man can also be described as A Person of Perpetual, Particular and Profound Interest (APPPPI) to humanity. who can guess what power he parks and can restrain him from acting whichever ever he wants to act?

It is quite unfortunate that I may not be granted access to decorate him with all the epithets I have bestowed on him here but to just sit down quietly in the comfort of my modest home in Nigeria to celebrate this modern icon. Who can deny me this right
