DisCos generate N1.10 trillion revenue in six months

The 11 electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) in the country generated revenue to the tune of c N1.101 trillion from their customers in the first six months of 2025.

An analysis of the monthly factsheet of the DisCos, produced by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) said the amount generated is from the total N1.486 trillion worth of electricity the DisCos billed their customers.

This means that there was a collection shortfall of N385.43 billion.

In the review period, Eko Electricity Distribution (EKEDC) collected the highest revenue of N207.14 billion from the N244.08 billion it billed its customers.

EKEDC was closely followed by Ikeja Electric with N193.46 billion from the N256.74 billion it billed its customers and the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) placed third with N176.81 billion collection from the N225.92 billion billed its customers.

Others include the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) which generated N122.81 billion from N160.52 billion worth of power supplied to its customer while the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) collected N103.92 billion from the N125.3 billion supplied. Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) collected N90.51 billion from the N113.74 billion bill to its customers.

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) was able to recover N76.73 billion from the N118.53 billion bill while Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KedCo) collected N54.55 billion from the N87.49 billion it billed its customers and Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) collected N33.37 billion from the N73.37 billion billed its customers.

Kaduna Electric was able to collect N24.38 billion from the N50.4 billion it issued out and Yobe Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) got N17.49 billion from the N30.51 billion bill.

A month-by-month analysis of the collections showed that the DisCos collected the highest revenue, N188.46 billion, in the month of May, followed by February with N188.3 billion then March with N185.48 billion.

In April, they collected N184.07 billion, N178.66 billion in June and N176.2 billion in January.
