Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri, has visited Chief Diekivie Ikiogha and Hon. Freedom Osain to commiserate with them over the dynamite attacks on their residences just before the governorship election in the state.
Suspected political thugs had on the eve of the governorship election in the state carried out separate attacks on the residences of the two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Diri who was accompanied on the visit by the new Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu assured Bayelsans that the perpetrators would not go free.
Consequently, he directed security agencies to apprehend the culprits and bring them to book.n
Speaking at the residence of Chief Ikiogha, Diri lamented the introduction of violence in an election that should allow people to pick their choice without fear.
“We will all agree that from the inception of this administration, we have not experienced this kind of dynamite throwing not until the former actors of dynamite came to the scene and from when they started what they know best, the State became jittery.
‘’So, my brother, I particularly wanted our leading security agency which is the police and the other very leading agency again which is the Department of Security Services to come with me to hear from you.
‘’And I like to assure you that this act will not go free. We will not allow this act of terrorism to go free.
‘’I charge the security agencies to go after those who have committed this dastardly act and ensure that they are apprehended and they must be taken to court and let the law take its course.
‘’That will act as a deterrent to any one of them who thinks that they have done something today. It’s either they come back and face the law or forever they leave Bayelsa State and take their criminality outside the State but wherever they are in Nigeria, they will be fished out,” said Governor Diri.
