Governor Douye Diri has delivered Bayelsa to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The Returning Officer, Prof Lilian Salami, Vice- Chancellor, University of Benin who announced the result at the Mahmood Yakubu Centre said Atiku polled 68,818 votes to beat Peter Obi of the Labour Party who polled 49,975 votes and Bola Ahmed Tinubu who polled 42,572 votes.
A breakdown of the result indicated that Atiku won in five local government areas including the home local government of Governor Diri, Kolokuma/ Opokuma. Other local governments he won include Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, Sagbama and Brass.
The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Dr Samuel Ogbuku delivered his local government area, Ogbia to Tinubu with Tinubu also winning in Nembe. Obi, however, won in one local government area, Yenagoa.
