The outlawed secessionist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says it will not relent in its struggle towards the realisation of Biafra republic, despite the re-arrest and extradition of its leader Nnamdi Kanu to Nigeria.
Kanu had jumped bail in 2017, was re-arrested on Sunday and brought back to Nigeria. He is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony, due to his campaign for the secession of Republic of Biafra.
A statement by IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Wednesday asked IPOB members to “mobilise” and attend the court hearing on July 26 when Kanu’s trial will continue at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
He said Kanu’s arrest and extradition is “not the end of the road” towards the group’s realization of its objective.
“IPOB will not relent in the pursuit of Biafra freedom,” Powerful said. “We have crossed the Rubicon in our struggle for the restoration of Biafran Sovereignty. There is no going back no matter the level of intimidation by our oppressors.”
