Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle has vowed to deal with his deputy, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau if he fails to stay within his limit.
Matawalle told the Hausa Service of Deutsch that his deputy has been quite disrespectful and may get “the treatment he deserves” if he continued to misbehave.
Gusau has refused to follow Matawalle to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting on remaining behind in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as it’s leader in the state.
The deputy also organise a political rally recently which was disrupted by the police. This, it was learnt, did not go down well with the governor.
The State House of Assembly also invited Gusau for questioning on why he should organise a rally of such magnitude despite the security situation in the state.
“I won’t join issues with him. But if he dares me, I will give him the treatment he deserves,” the governor said.
Matawalle said he learnt of Gusau’s invitation by the Assembly and the impeachment threat over the matter through the media.
“I just read about the impeachment plan and called someone for clarification, who told me that they would not accept it from the deputy governor to be organising rallies when people are being killed.
“As governor of the state, I promised to work together with the deputy governor irrespective of our political affiliations. But I won’t tolerate a disrespectful attitude from him,” he said.
