Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have alleged that their colleagues who defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were intimidated into doing so.
The forum said the affected governors were forced into leaving the fold by the APC-led administration over alleged threat of prosecution for misdeeds.
The governors met in Bauchi State on Sunday to deliberate on many issues and strategies ahead of 2023 general elections.
The Director-General, PDP-GF, Cyril Maduabum, earlier said in a statement that the meeting would also examine and deliberate on the state of their respective states and Nigeria’s democracy, including the Electoral Act Amendment.
Chairman of forum, Waziri Tambuwal, who was represented by Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku vowed that his remaining colleagues would not fall to the antic of the APC and cannot be intimated into leaving the party.
“Those running and leaving the PDP were running to where their sins are forgiven; so if you are a bad and corrupt man, you go over to APC to where your sins will be forgiven but we do not agree and believe in intimidation. We will remain in the PDP, we will capture power and improve Nigeria”, he noted.
Among those at the Bauchi meeting include Duoye Diri (Bayelsa); Samuel Ortom (Benue); Okezie Ikpeazu(Abia); Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa) and Udom Emmanuel, (Akwa Ibom).
Others were: Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta); Godwin Obaseki (Edo); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Seyi Makinde( Oyo); Nyesom Wike( Rivers) and Zamfara Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu.
