The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating the withdrawal of over N5 billion from the treasury of a state in the country.
EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who disclosed this on Thursday at a media briefing in Abuja, declined to reveal the name of the state.
He said the development was unraveled by the newly established Department of Intelligence, which has made investigations by the commission intelligence-driven.
Bawa said he would write a formal complaint to the Inspector-General of Police over the threat message he has been receiving since he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in February.
The EFCC chairman had on Tuesday during an interview with Channel Television raised the alarm that a high-profile Nigerian had threatened to kill him. He said it was an indication that corruption is fighting back.
Bawa said the commission had arrested 1,502 internet fraudsters from January till date, adding the rising case of cybercrime was tarnishing the image of Nigeria in the international community.
