Bandits have killed seven local vigilantes, burnt down military armoured vehicle in an early morning attack on Dansadau town in Maru Local Government of Zamfara State.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that bandits have killed at least 45 villagers and 13 police officers, abducted over 150 people and shot down a Nigerian Air Force fighter jet in an unprecedented days of rage between July 9 to July 18 in the state.
Witnesses said assailants invaded the community in the wee hours of Friday, firing several shots in the air while going into houses. A total of 13 people, including women, have so far being identified as those abducted during the raid.
The bandits overpowered the vigilantes and the security deployed in the town.
The attackers also set ablaze an armoured vehicle stationed at the community by the security officials.
The attack was triggered by the community’s resolve to block bandits from getting foods such as bread and soft drinks from the local traders.
These attacks are recurring despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s stern warning to the bandits that he would soon start speaking to them in a language they understand, having earlier warned them not to test his patience.
The state police command has not responded to the incident yet.
