The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has described the recognition of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, at the Daily Times Nigeria Heroes Centenary Awards as public proof of his administration’s impact and achievements.
Governor Eno was named the Most Outstanding Governor in the South-South Region at the prestigious event.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, by the PGF Director General, Folorunso Aluko, the Forum stated that the award is a public affirmation of a governing philosophy founded on compassion, inclusion, disciplined implementation and measurable impact.
“It recognises a leader who has consistently translated political promises into practical outcomes and transformed public authority into an instrument for advancing human dignity,” the statement read.
The Forum pointed out that at its highest expression, democracy is not merely a periodic contest for power; but a continuing covenant between leadership and the people.
It explained that public office acquires moral meaning only when it improves lives, widens opportunity and gives hope to those on the margins of society.
“Governor Umo Eno has demonstrated a profound understanding of this responsibility by combining pastoral compassion with executive competence, political maturity with administrative discipline, and visionary purpose with methodical delivery,” the Forum added.
According to the PGF, Governor Eno’s flagship policy framework, the ARISE Agenda, has moved from a vision into practical outcomes from a policy framework into a living philosophy of development, with community roads opening to commerce and opportunity; farmers and entrepreneurs receiving support to strengthen productivity; schools and hospitals being upgraded; and young people gaining access to new possibilities; while Compassionate Homes are restoring dignity, security and hope to vulnerable families.
The Forum added that state-level developments under the ARISE Agenda align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform and complement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Commending the organisers of the Daily Times Nigeria Heroes Centenary Awards for recognizing tangible impact, the Forum urged Governor Eno to view the award as a call to deepen his service to Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
The PGF also called on residents of the state to maintain their support for the government.
