Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it has intercepted two vehicles with fabricated tanks suspected to be supplying bandits with petroleum products in the forest.
Acting Controller of the NCS in Katsina, Dalha Wada-Chedi, disclosed this in Katsina on Monday.
He said the vehicles, Peugeot 504 model with fabricated tanks, were loaded with fuel, valued at N280,000 each.
The state government had in August banned the sales of fuel in jerry cans as part of measures to tackle banditry and kidnapping in the state. However, criminals have resorted to using motorcycles to buy fuel and hide it somewhere, only to offload same into jerricans.
Wada-Chedi said the command also
intercepted 14 motorcycles loaded with fuel, also suspected to be taking to bandits in the forest.
He said the Customs also seized 205 pieces of USB telephone chargers suspected to be supplied to the criminals for charging their telephones.
