Pro-Bayero kingmaker, Aminu Babba Danagundi and a key figure in the ongoing Kano emirate dispute has called on those recently appointed under the repealed Kano Emirate Council Law to vacate their positions in compliance with the newly obtained Court of Appeal ruling.
Addressing journalists on Saturday, Danagundi emphasized that the court’s ruling must be respected by all parties, including security agencies responsible for maintaining peace in the state. He urged them to ensure that the rule of law prevails.
“We have been granted this order, and it must be followed unless and until a higher court, that is the Supreme Court, sets it aside. Everyone must abide by this order. If anyone has a contrary position, let them bring it forward,” he said.
Danagundi also noted that the case involves key security institutions, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the military, underscoring the importance of enforcing the court’s decision.
He insisted that the court’s directive was clear; “Maintain status quo ante, meaning the situation should return to what it was before the matter was taken to court.”
