The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja will deliver judgment on Friday in the appeal filed by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf challenging his removal by the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
Mr Yusuf was removed by a three-man panel of judges led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay on September 20, 2023.
The tribunal said 165,663 of Mr Yusuf”s votes were invalid because they were not signed or stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).Thererafter, Yusuf’s votes were reduced to 853,939, while that of the APC candidate Nasir Yusuf Gawuna stood at 890,705.
The governor rejected the verdict, saying it was “unfair” and “a miscarriage of justice.”
He asked the appeal court to overturn the tribunal’s ruling.
