Justice K. B. Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has denied the bail applications of the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, and the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Abdullahi Fasasi.
Both face charges in connection to the tragic children’s festive party held in December 2024, which resulted in a stampede claiming the lives of at least 35 children.
Justice Olawoyin adjourned Naomi’s case till next week, following a plea by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oyo State, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, SAN, for more time to conclude investigations.”
The court is set to decide on the bail application of the proprietor of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat who along with Naomi and Fasasi, are also under investigation for the events that led to the stampede at the ill-fated party held at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan.
The court resumed hearing on Tuesday under heavy security, with the prosecution team led by Prof. Oyewo.
