The Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire have won the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2023, by defeating the Nigerian Super Eagles Sunday night.
This is the third title for the Elephants having only won in 1992 and 2015.
The fierce game took place at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, the host nation’s capital.
The tournament marked the 34th edition of the African competition.
The first goal was scored by William Troost-Ekong 38’9 minutes into the game when he took a shot which past the Ivorian goalkeeper.
Franck Kessie of Ivory Coast puts the ball past the goalkeeper at 63’1 minutes, thereby equalizing for the host nation.
At 81′1, Sebastien Haller scored the second goal for Ivory Coast.
