The Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), yesterday, has indicated interest in bidding for the soon to be concessioned Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA).
This follows calls by the federal government for bids for four international airports, Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja; Murtala Muhammad Airport, Lagos; Mallam Aminu Kano Airport, Kano and Port Harcourt Airport.
The federal government had through the Ministry of Aviation sent out invitation for bids from reputable airport developers/operators/financiers/consortia for pre-qualification for the concession of the four selected airport terminals under a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement.
Deputy President of KACCIMA, Usman Darma, at a press briefing in Kano, said the chamber was prepared to undertake the airport planned for concession.
Whle noting that KACCIMA has the capacity to undertake the concession project, Darma said the chamber plans to transform MAKIA into an enviable facility in terms of revenue generation and security.
