Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has visited the site of a building which collapsed in the Garki area of the territory and promised to foot medical bills of all those who were affected by the incident.
The building, a two-storey shopping plaza located on Lagos Street collapsed late on Wednesday night.
Speaking after an inspection of the site, Wike who was in company with Olusade Adesola, FCTA permanent secretary, described the incident as unfortunate, more so with the death of two persons.
He, thereafter, instructed Adesola to make necessary arrangements for the payment of the medical bills of the 35 rescued victims.
“It is quite unfortunate that we woke up this morning to hear this very disturbing news. I am grateful to all rescue agencies, especially NEMA. It’s unfortunate that two people are dead.
“I will speak to the permanent secretary to make sure we pay the hospital bills of those who are rescued and that should be done immediately,” the minister stated.
