Retired Col. Garba Moyi has tendered his resignation as the Chairman of the Sokoto State Community Guards Corps Establishment Committee, appointed by Gov. Ahmed Aliyu.
Addressing a press briefing in Sokoto on Saturday, Moyi stated that his resignation was voluntary and came in response to an alleged malicious campaign aimed at tarnishing his integrity.
He stated that his background included dedicated service to the nation, having retired voluntarily as a Colonel in the Nigerian Army, followed by a transition into politics where he was elected as the Chairman of Isa Local Government Area of the state.
“My commitment to the welfare and development of the people led to my appointment as a Commissioner for Security by the previous administration in the state, where I voluntarily resigned before the end of the tenure.
“However, owing to my unwavering dedication to enhancing the state’s security framework, the current administration appointed me to lead the committee for the establishment of the proposed community guards corps.
“Today, I am pleased to inform the public that I have chosen to resign voluntarily for personal reasons, with the aim of promoting peace and harmony in our state,” he said.
Moyi expressed his gratitude to the state Governor for entrusting him with the responsibility and assured the people of the state of his unwavering commitment to support the government’s efforts in the best interests of all citizens.
