The Police Command in Zamfara State has sent the report of its finding on the five persons suspected of murder and cannibalism.
The five suspects were arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court in Gusau Tuesday afternoon after confessing to have gruesomely killed and dismembered a 9-year-old boy in Gusau.
After killing the boy identified as Ahmed, the suspects were said to have removed some parts of his body which they took to one Aminu Baba who confessed to eating the intestine, eyes, throat and genitalia of the dismembered boy.
While informing the court, police prosecutor, Jaafar Muhammad, said the police have filed in their report through the Director of Public Prosecution at the State Ministry of Justice on the 31 January, 2022.
The prosecutor said their decision to send the report to the state government was because the Magistrate Court lacks jurisdiction to listen to the case.
Responding, the judge, Sa’adu Gurbin Bore, said though the court lacks jurisdiction to listen to the case, he noted that it can listen to the cognisance of the case, remand accused persons and referred the case to a court of competent jurisdiction.
Mr Gurbin Bore adjourned the case till 15 of March and asked the adults among the suspects to be remanded at the Custodial center and the minor at the remand home all in Gusau.
