This follows a presidential directive early on Thursday to the CBN to recirculate the old N200 notes and allow the same co-exist with the redesigned notes up to April 10.
He disclosed this while addressing State House Correspondents shortly after attending a meeting with President Buhari and the House of Representatives Adhoc committee on new naira redesign and naira swap policy at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Emefiele said one of the outcomes of the meeting with the bank chiefs was that the old N200 notes would be made available immediately.
He appealed to Nigerians to allow the policy to work, saying it would go a long way to help the nation’s economy.
The CBN Governor said that the Apex bank would continue to do everything possible to ease the sufferings being experienced by Nigerians due to the cash crunch.
