A bill seeking abolition of the dichotomy between first Degree holders and Higher National Diploma (HND) holders in the same field for the purpose of employment, has passed the final reading at the House of Representatives.
The bill passed its final stage at the House on Tuesday when members voted at the Committee of the Whole presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rep. Ahmed Wase.
The passage was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a report of the House Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFund after conducting a hearing on the bill.
The bill was sponsored by Edward Pwajok at the 8th Assembly in 2017 and passed the second reading.
During the second reading of the bill 2017, Pwajok said research conducted on both certificates had shown that the discrimination had no moral justification.
With the passage final reading of the bill on Tuesday, the bill will now be sent to the Senate for concurrence and then to the President for assent.
