President Bola Tinubu has sent a N1.48 trillion budget proposal for Rivers State to the National Assembly for consideration on Thursday.
Mr Tinubu said the estimates became necessary due to the nullification of the 2025 budget of the state by the Supreme Court, as well as the fact that the state is currently under emergency rule.
He said ₦324 billion of the amount will be expended on infrastructure, ₦166 billion on health, ₦75.6 billion on education and ₦31.4 billion on agriculture.
The president said that by the provisions of the budget, agriculture is expected to generate about 6,000 jobs and appealed to the legislature to urgently pass the budget for the commonwealth of the state and its people.
