Military sources said the army chief’s plane crashed in Kaduna Friday evening when it was about landing.

A military source said the plane was about landing at the Kaduna airport when it went up in flame.

The Nigerian Airfiorce has confirmed the crash without giving further details in a tweet.

”An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,” the statement signed by Edward Gabkwet, the airforce’s spokesperson said.

A source said the army chief was going to Kaduna along the Chief of Staff, the Provost Marshall and seven others.

A source said they were already at the airport to receive the army chief when the accident occurred.
