A female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, identified as Deborah Samuel has been killed for alleged blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The student was reportedly killed by other students for allegedly refusing to tender an apology over the incident.
The incident happened Thursday morning.
Sokoto state government has reportedly shut the college.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that Ms Deborah made the alleged blasphemous comment at the hostel during a disagreement with other students.
One of the students told our correspondent that, “She (Deborah) was then asked to rescind her statement and apologize but she refused to do so which angered other Muslim students of the college.”
The deceased was said to have been whisked to the security outpost in the college for protection. However, the rampaging students overpowered them, killed the lady and burnt her body to ashes, it was learnt.
Our correspondent observed heavy presence of well armed security personnel in the school and students were seen trooping out of the school premises
