Former Governor Nasiru el-Rufai has been arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday.
He was arrested shortly after he was released on administrative bail by the EFCC.
The ICPC agency confirmed the arrest in a statement Wednesday evening.
It said the former governor was in its custody in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Mr el-Rufai was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (ICPC) on Monday over N432 billion alleged fraud. He has been undergoing questions till latest information by ICPC.
The ICPC statement was signed by its Head of Media and Public Communications, Mr. J. Okor Odey.
It revealed that Mr Rufai remains with the commission as of the close of work on February 18, 2026.
“The Commission wishes to state that Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, is in our custody as at the close of work today, Wednesday, the 18th day of February, 2026,” ICPC said.
“He is in the custody of the Commission in connection with ongoing investigations,” the statement said.
There was no immediate comments from Mr el-Rufai’s lawyers.
Immediately after leaving office in 2023, the Kaduna State House of Assembly, set up a commission of inquiry that investigated his tenure from 2015 to 2023. The legislative commission inducted him and accused him of embezzling N432 billion.
