Gunmen have attacked the residence of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma in Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area of the state, killing security guards.
Sources told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that two security personnel guarding the residence were shot dead when the gunmen invaded the house Saturday morning.
The rampaging gunmen set the governor’s residence ablaze, including many cars parked inside.
The Imo state Commissioner for information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, has confirmed the incident to journalists.
“It is true but it is not still clear. It is not true that several security men lost their lives. About two security men on duty at the governor’s house were killed. NSCDC personnel was among the security men who lost their lives during the attack,” he said.
The spokesperson of the Imo state police command, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, was not available for comments.
