Plateau State Police Command on Wednesday said it has arrested some suspects in connection to the killing of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Christopher Dega.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Edward Egbuka, who disclosed this on Wednesday said preliminary investigations revealed that Dega was trailed from Makurdi, the Benue State Capital, to Jos, the Plateau state capital, where he was shot.
He said the incident occurred at about 8:30 Monday night a few minutes after the victim arrived at Anguldi area of Bukuru in Jos South local government area of Plateau State.
The retired police officer was a Principal Special Assistant (PSA) on Security to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
The murder was announced earlier Wednesday by a media aide to Governor Ortom, Mr Dan Mashin through his Facebook page.
He said Dega bled to death after he was shot in the chest several times by gunmen.
He hailed from Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue state.
Retired AIG Dega was Commissioner of Police in Borno and Edo States.
He was AIG Zone 8, Lokoja.
