An official driver of Emir of Birnin Gwari Alhaji Jibrin Maigwari has been killed by bandits along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.
The monarch was not in the car when it was attacked.
The incident happened on Saturday at Udawa village, Unguwar Yako forest around 3pm, a source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
He said the bandits also set the vehicle ablaze.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the victim, identified as Nasiru, was alone in the vehicle and was returning to Birnin Gwari from Kaduna.
Not long ago, the convoy of the monarch was showered with bullets by the bandits along the same road. The traditional ruler was not in the convoy when it was attacked.
A resident of Udawa town who didn’t want to be named confirmed the incident, saying the pilot vehicle was burnt by the bandits.
“The vehicle was burnt completely and the driver was killed when they attacked the vehicle in the afternoon on Saturday,” the source simply said.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the incident.
He said operatives have been deployed to the area.
