The Abuja-Kaduna rail track has been destroyed by bomb planted by bandits forcing the train to abruptly stop.
The attack on Monday night took place at a spot between Katari and Rijana.
There are fears that the train might have derailed with nearly 1000 passengers onboard.
This is coming months after bandits attacked the rail tracks that almost derailed the train.
One of the passengers said the attackers after forcing the train to stop, also surrounded it and started shooting sporadically.
There are at least 970 passengers onboard the train.
